When you read “3 signs of toxic people” how do you read it?
Let’s say you read an article or see a reel titled "3 signs of toxic people".
Let’s say based on these 3 signs, I asked you to list down people who you think are toxic.
And the answers would be like:
"My parents"
"My friends"
"My relatives"
"My family"
"My colleagues"
"My manager"
"My xyz"
But very few, if at all, would say:
"I just realized I am toxic!"
Very often, we come across content that validates us.
Because it gives meaning to our angst, our anger, our disappointment.
"5 reasons hiring interviews should be eliminated"
"7 reasons college does not work anymore"
"5 ways parents are wrong"
"X reasons why others are wrong"
We read them and our minds make us feel good about ourselves.
"See, I told you. They were wrong. I am right."
Funnily enough, we rarely stop to ask ourselves,
"Is it possible that I too exhibit the same?"
What we feel about people is rarely permanent.
What we conclude of people is a function of what we are feeling about them at that moment.
Our parents, while growing up, were gods to us, until they turned devil for some of us, because they stopped us from living our lives.
Our friends, who were bffs, suddenly became enemies because they did not stand up for us when others made fun of us.
Our colleagues, who we used to drink and dine with, became competitors because they were ranked higher in the appraisals than us.
So whenever you find yourself categorizing people a certain way, realize that we could very well be acting the same way for them.
In which case there is no difference between them and us.
Book I read this week
Did not pick up a new book.
We had our company offsite (which was a LOT of fun - pics below), and I wanted to focus 100% on that.
In the meantime, here is a list of all books I have shared in this newsletter since Day 1.
A list of all of them can be found here.
Question of the week
If you have to learn something new, what is the best way for you to learn?
Through books
Through a person who knows about the thing
Through videos
By joining some community/group
Through ChatGPT (or other AI tools)
By browsing the internet and exploring
(and see the results of others, too)
Results of last week's question
So my newsletter profile is a working professional in their 20s. Got it :)

3 pics from last week
Last week we had our 15th company offsite - where we went to Bhowali (a place 1.5hrs from Bhimtal, in Uttarakhand).
We were there for 5 days, and it was a workation.
We would get up and do some activity in the morning - say Yoga, or a walk, or some exercises.
Then have breakfast at 9am.
And from 10-1pm everyone would work.
Then lunch from 1-2pm.
Then work from 2-6pm.
And then 6pm onwards we would spend time together - chit chatting, playing games, joking around.
Eat dinner at 8:30pm and then retire.
Here are some pics from those 5 days.
When we arrived via train, at Kathgodam.

2 quotes I wish to share
Nothing makes a man so adventurous as an empty pocket.

Connecting people is the biggest sign of a positive sum mindset.
1 new thing I learnt this week
During World War I (1914–1918), a massive number of men across Europe were enrolled into military service.
This significantly reduced male student populations in universities.
As a result, many universities began admitting more women, sometimes for the first time or in greater numbers than before, to maintain student numbers and keep institutions functioning.
This set the trend towards greater inclusion of women in higher education in motion.
