The world hasn’t changed. Information flow has.
When I was growing up, the world was small.
No Internet. No WhatsApp. Letters took days.
TV was our only source of “what’s happening” - and even that wasn’t about people we knew.
Just global news delivered by super boring anchors.
Our world was 50-60 people.
Friends from school. A few from the colony.
And when comparison happened, it was within that set.
So yes, “Sharma ji ka beta” was real.
He lived two floors above.
He topped his boards.
And he only topped his boards.
You weren’t comparing his physique, travel, salary, girlfriend, side hustle.
(Not that he had many of these things anyway, lol)
Then came the 2000s.
Social networks showed up and boom!
50 friends became 500.
We were suddenly in everyone’s living room.
Their vacations, breakups, job offers, sneakers, heartbreaks - all available in real time.
We felt inspired.
Then we felt envious.
Then we felt empty.
But we couldn’t stop scrolling.
A decade later, the game changed again.
Social networks realized we were bored of our friends.
So they said - “Here, meet some strangers who could be people you’d like to follow.”
And just like that, our world wasn’t 500 people anymore.
It was 5 billion.
Now, you’re 24 and comparing yourself to a 16-year-old who just raised seed funding.
A 19-year-old with abs and a $200K job.
A 17-year-old who's already a TEDx speaker and 3x founder.
But the truth is - people like this always existed.
But in my time, we simply didn’t know they existed.
Now you do.
All. The. Time.
And that changes everything.
So what do you do?
1. Accept: This world is rigged for comparison.
It’s not your fault you feel left behind.
But it is your responsibility to stop spiraling.
2. Remember: You’re not in a race.
You’re in a relationship with yourself.
Only one person has your context, your abilities, your journey.
And that person is you.
You want SRK’s charm and Federer’s body?
Sure.
But are you ready to live their entire life, every messy part of it?
Probably not.
3. Know this: Even the best compare.
You think Bill Gates doesn’t compare himself?
Maybe not on wealth - but on impact, intelligence, legacy? Absolutely.
Everyone compares.
Winners just choose what they compare - and when to stop.
So no, you’re not alone.
You’re just online.
And in a world that’s screaming “Look at them!”, real strength is quietly whispering “Look at how far I’ve come.”

Book I read this week
Started reading Europe's Growth Champion: Insights from the Economic Rise of Poland by Marcin Piatkowski.
A few weeks back I read how Poland’s GDP/Capita has ~3Xed in the last 25 years. Poland has transitioned from a perennially backward, poor, and peripheral country to unexpectedly join the ranks of the world's high income countries. The book is about that journey and how they made it happen.
Quite interesting, if politics, governance and economic policies is your thing.
Here is a list of all books I have shared in this newsletter since Day 1.
Question of the week
Which of these describes you the best?
I believe that God exists and I pray regularly
I believe that God exists and I do not pray regularly
I do not believe that God exists
I am not sure if God exists but I do pray to something/someone
I am not sure if God exists and I do not pray
(and see the results of others, too)
Results of last week's question
When in school - it most likely is the teacher.
Out of school, majority are learning through videos.
Then beyond 30s, people go back to experts and mentors. Makes sense!
My response:
I learn by browsing the internet and exploring.

2 quotes I wish to share
Weak is the one who was hurt, and instead of healing, chose to hurt others.
The world gets pissed off by those who win quietly.
1 new thing I learnt this week
I started to sit down to pee, some 3 months back. It stemmed from hygiene (spilling while standing) and biology (sitting down is actually better).
So I wondered how many other men also do it?
And realized - German men are the ones who do it the most. Nearly 40% German men sit down and pee - the highest in the world.
